I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Anthony D'Aloisio to the Board of Taxation for a term of two years commencing from 16 August 2001.
Mr D'Aloisio is Chief Executive Partner of Mallesons Stephen Jaques and, as a senior lawyer, has broad, practical experience of commercial activities. He is also a member of the Business Council of Australia, the International Legal Services Advisory Council, and the World Trade Organisation Advisory Board.
Mr D'Aloisio replaces Mr Michael Chaney on the Board. Mr Chaney has made a valuable contribution during what has been a busy formative period for the Board, in developing and progressing its modes of operation and work agenda. Unfortunately, other work pressures have prevented him continuing in this role.
The membership of the Board will be as follows:
Mr Richard Warburton (Chair)
Mr John Bronger
Mr Anthony D'Aloisio
Mr John Harvey
Mr Brett Heading
Mr Chris Jordan
Associate Professor Alison McClelland
Dr Ken Henry (Secretary to the Treasury)
Mr Michael Carmody (Commissioner of Taxation)
Ms Hilary Penfold QC (First Parliamentary Counsel)
