I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Keith James to the Board of Taxation for a term of two years commencing from 1 March 2004 and the re-appointment of Mr Anthony D’Aloisio as member of the Board of Taxation. Mr D’Aloisio’s re-appointment will be effective to 31 October 2004.
Mr James is a Senior Partner of Hall & Wilcox Lawyers and, as a senior lawyer, has broad, practical experience of business taxation and commercial activities. He is a fellow of CPA Australia, the Australian Institute of Management and the Taxation Institute of Australia. Mr James replaces MrJohn Harvey who has made a valuable contribution to the work of the Board.
Mr D’Aloisio has contributed significantly to the Board of Taxation over the past 2 years. His extensive experience and judgement have been critical to the deliberations of the Board.
The Board of Taxation is an independent, non-statutory body established to advise the Government on the development and implementation of taxation legislation and the ongoing operation of the tax system.
I take this opportunity to congratulate Mr James on his appointment and Mr D’Aloisio on his re-appointment.
