Coalition Promises $300,000 to Ballarat POW Memorial

A re-elected Coalition Government will provide an additional $300,000 to the Australian Ex Prisoners of War Memorial at Ballarat, to assist with the implementation of a business plan to provide parking facilities, security, lighting and ongoing maintenance services.

This new funding is in addition to the $200,000 already provided by the Coalition Government during the construction phase.

The memorial commemorates the more than 30,000 men and women who were taken prisoner of war while serving Australia during the Boer War, the two World Wars and the Korean War.

The funding commitment follows strong representations from the memorial committee, Victorian Liberal Senate candidate, the Hon Michael Ronaldson, and the Liberal candidate for the seat of Ballarat, Elizabeth Matuschka.
