Treasurer's Press Release No. 47

It has been drawn to our attention that a press release purporting to be from the Treasurer has been distributed to its members by the National Tax and Accountants Association.

The document distributed by the NTAA No. 47 on the Alienation of Personal Services Income-Agents has a number of serious errors in it, and is not the press release issued by the Treasurer on Friday June 29, 2001.

In the version distributed by the NTAA the word "client" has been replaced by the word "cheat" and the word "from" has been replaced by the word "froth."

We have been advised that this was as a result of an error in a scanning process which was not picked up by the NTAA or the company which supplied the NTAA with the scanned copy of the original release.

If any business, tax agent, accountant or media outlet wishes to obtain an accurate copy of this, or other press releases by the Treasurer, they can be directly accessed from the website: www.treasury.gov.au.
