SUBJECTS: Budget

TREASURER:

Good morning. Tonight’s Budget will continue the Government’s good economic management. We’ll be paying off further debts, we’ll be strengthening the financial position, and we’ll be also helping families, particularly families in rural areas, with targetted measures, responsible measures, which continues the Government’s good economic decision making.

JOURNALIST:

Will a billion and a half dollars be enough to assuage the concerns of people in rural Australia?

TREASURER:

What we’ll be doing is, we’ll be continuing good economic management, and that brings benefits for families and for regional areas. And there’ll be targetted measures. Well spent, carefully targetted measures, which will be consistent with good economic management. And that’s where we’re going to pitch the Budget. Thanks.
