SUBJECTS: Tax Reform

JOURNALIST:

(inaudible) how’s the first week of the GST (inaudible)?

TREASURER:

It has gone better, I think, than people expected. I know that there are a lot of people that have got a lot more money in their pay packets this week, because they’ve got their income taxes cut. And I want to pay tribute to the businesses of Australia, that, I think, has coped with these changes magnificently. We are now building a new tax system for the new Century, and I think it’s going to make Australia a better place. Thanks.
