Beazley, Sherry, Fitzgibbon & Swan Back To Their Old Tricks Not Supporting Tax Cuts

Labor's biggest mistake after last year's Budget was to refuse to back tax cuts for Australian workers.

This year, Kim Beazley and his weak leadership team are back to their old tricks by not backing a cut to tax on superannuation.

Pressured into saying 'anything' on superannuation, Shadow Minister for Superannuation, Senator Nick Sherry has let the cat out of the bag on Kim Beazley, saying that Labor will 'contribute' to a 'discussion' on the Government's super tax cuts.

Tonight, Kim Beazley is going to wimp-out on fully backing the most dynamic improvements to Australia's superannuation system in our nation's history.

The Government's super proposals have received wide support from the super industry.

For example, Philipa Smith from the Australian Superannuation Funds Association said:

ASFA's calls for greater adequacy and simplification [for superannuation] have been heard. We are delighted.

Kim Beazley's weak leadership is widely known, but it beggars belief that he would not have the ticker to unequivocally support the removal of exit tax on superannuation for people over 60.

Kim Beazley's failure to back the Government's super proposals confirm what most people already believe a Kim Beazley led Labor stands for nothing.
