The Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Peter Dutton, today congratulated the ANZ bank on its success in winning a special award in the Prime Minister’s 2006 Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
The award marked the ANZ’s significant community involvement in a range of programmes and projects, including financial literacy.
“The ANZ has been involved over a long period in promoting and actively assisting Australians to develop better financial literacy skills,” Mr Dutton said.
“In addition to its direct community work, the CEO of the ANZ, John McFarlane, personally devotes time to assisting the Government’s efforts in financial literacy through his membership of the Advisory Board of the Financial Literacy Foundation which the Government set up to raise community awareness and give all Australians the opportunity to better manage their money.”
