Deductibility of Gifts to the Amy Gillett Foundation

Today, the Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, the Hon Peter Dutton MP, has announced that gifts of $2 or more donated to the Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) are tax deductible.

The AGF was created in honour of the late cyclist Amy Gillett-Safe, who died on 18 July 2005, after a road accident in Germany involving her and five other members of the Australian cycling team.  The major goal of the AGF is to raise awareness of cyclist safety.

Taxpayers should ensure they receive a receipt for their donation.

Legislation to give effect to the Government’s decision will be introduced as soon as practicable.
