Labors defence super remedy just a scare campaign in Defence community

Labor has been running a scaremongering campaign within the Defence Force community on a number of superannuation issues.

Today Labor’s spokesmen on superannuation issued the latest ‘stunt statement’ designed to create fear and uncertainty within the defence community and score cheap political points.

Labor has said that current regulations surrounding military superannuation will force Defence Force personnel retiring early to pay a high rate of tax.

The Government does not intend that any retiring Defence Force personnel be disadvantaged by the introduction of the Better Super changes which took effect on 1 July 2007.

So as to provide certainty and to put the issue beyond doubt the Government has already said it will be amending the relevant regulations.

The real risk facing all Australians looking to retire is that an elected Labor government will mismanage the economy, just like they did last time.  This will directly damage the retirement strategies of all Australians and their families.
