Deductibility of Gifts to the Sir William Tyree Foundation of the Australian Industry Group

The Prime Minister announced on 11 August 1998 that public donations to the Sir William Tyree Foundation of the Australian Industry Group were to be made tax deductible once the Fund satisfied the public fund requirements.

From I March 1999 gifts of $2 or more made to the Sir William Tyree Foundation of the Australian Industry Group will be tax deductible. The Foundation has been established to support the setting up of a Visiting Professorial Chair in Innovation at an Australian university, or an alliance of institutions.

Legislation to give effect to the Government’s decision will be introduced as soon as practicable.

Taxpayers should ensure that they receive a receipt for their donation.
