Deductibility of Gifts to the RSL and 6th Division Australian-Hellenic Memorial Education Fund

Gifts to the value of $2 or more made to the RSL and 6th Division Australian-Hellenic Memorial Education Fund will be deductible for income tax purposes, the Assistant Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp, announced today.

The RSL and 6th Division Australian-Hellenic Memorial Education Fund has been established to raise money to assist, each year, a deserving Greek citizen in the island of Crete, who is under the age of 25 years, to undertake tertiary education. Tax deductible gift status will assist the fund to attract public support for its activities.

After the Fund has satisfied the usual public fund requirements, a date will be nominated from which gifts will be tax deductible. Legislation to give effect to the Government’s decision will be introduced as soon as practicable after that time.
