The Assistant Treasurer Senator Rod Kemp has announced that, from today, gifts to the value of $2 or more made to Research Australia Limited will be deductible for income tax purposes.
Research Australia Limited has been established to facilitate the advancement of health and medical research to benefit health consumers, inform the public about the nature of and stimulate interest in, health and research, and to make health and medical research a higher national priority.
Tax deductible gift status will assist Research Australia Limited to attract public support for its activities.
Legislation to give effect to the Governments decision will be introduced as soon as practicable and taxpayers should ensure that they receive a receipt for their donation.
