Tax Deductibility to the Korean War Memorial Trust Fund Extended

The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced that the Government has decided to amend the income tax law to extend the period during which tax deductible gifts of $2 or more can be made to the Australian National Korean War Memorial Trust Fund.

As a result, gifts made to the Fund during the period from 2 September 1996 up to and including 1 September 2000 will be tax deductible.

The Fund was established to raise money for the construction of a Korean War Memorial on Anzac Parade, Canberra.

Legislation to give effect to this decision will be introduced as soon as practicable.

The address for donations is:

Australian National Korean War Memorial Trust Fund 87 Endeavour Street RED HILL ACT 2603

Taxpayers should ensure they receive a receipt for their donations.
