Deductibility Of Gifts To The National Breast Cancer Centre

The Assistant Treasurer Senator Rod Kemp, announced that from today, gifts to the value of $2 or more made to the National Breast Cancer Centre will be deductible for income tax purposes.

The National Breast Cancer Centre has been established to work directly with women, health professionals, cancer organisations, researchers and governments to improve breast cancer outcomes for women.

The Centre will strive to reduce the mortality from breast cancer and improve the wellbeing of women who are diagnosed with the disease.

Tax deductible gift status will assist the Centre to attract public support for its activities.

Legislation to give effect to the Government's decision will be introduced as soon as practicable and taxpayers should ensure that they receive a receipt for their donation.
