Deductibility of Gifts to the Community Disaster Relief (Sydney Hail Storm Assistance) Fund

Gifts to the value of $2 or more to the Community Disaster Relief (Sydney Hail Storm Assistance)Fund made after 14 April 1999 and before 15 April 2001 will be deductible for income tax purposes, the Assistant Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp, announced today.

The Community Disaster Relief (Sydney Hail Storm Assistance) Fund has been established to raise money for those affected by the serve hail storm that caused wide spread damage to parts of Sydney in April of this year. Tax deductible gift status will assist the Fund to attract public support for its activities.

Legislation to give effect to the Government’s decision will be introduced as soon as practicable.
