One man who didn't sleep much as well, when you're delivering the budget it's a big night and you've gotta get up early and do all these interviews; it is our Treasurer, Scott Morrison. Welcome to the show Scotty!
TREASURER:
G'Day guys, how you doing?
WIPPA:
Good Scotty. We first met in Gymea.
TREASURER:
We did. Have you still got your visa?
WIPPA:
Yep, still got my visa. The weird thing was at the time you said you were going to get rid of all the capital gains tax and also stamp duty. So I was expecting that in that in the Budget and that didn't turn up.
TREASURER:
(Laughs)
FITZY:
Scotty, this was the last federal election right, and we met at Gymea North Primary School. You were there, member for Cook, and we were celebrating Wippa's last weekend before he got married. I think you actually served us a sausage on a slice of bread.
TREASURER:
I did serve you a sausage. If it was today, thanks to Barnaby, I would probably be serving you carp somewhere.
WIPPA:
Well $15 million went towards carp, is that right?
TREASURER:
That's right, mate. Carp, enemy number one down there, especially in South Australia.
FITZY:
Actually Scotty, can you do us a favour? The other day when he said "carp" so much in parliament, we've actually put it into a Shannon Noll song and we want to get Shannon Noll and Barnaby Joyce together to record this, have a listen to this Scotty.

Look, Shannon lives down in the shire, so I reckon we should do it down there at Cronulla Leagues mate. The two of them can appear and that is an absolute cracker.
FITZY:
We're going to try and get them together.
WIPPA:
Scott, there is so much detail in the Budget, but I think you know now that we're chatting it's good to learn a lot more about you as well. And I think one of your finest achievements was making that Lara Bingle was part of the Tourism Australia campaign of "Where the Bloody Hell are you?"
TREASURER:
Wasn't a hard call.
FITZY:
(Laughs)
TREASURER:

WIPPA:
Prior to the budget, I was already happy with the decisions you'd made.
TREASURER:
Very good mate. Well, I'm so pleased she's done well for herself, good for her.
FITZY:
Well Scotty this is what we thought, I mean everyone's talking budget with you this morning we don't want to go through the finer details. We had Paul Murray from Sky News on this morning. We went through the basics so we want to learn a little bit more about our Treasurer. Is that ok if we ask you a couple of questions?
TREASURER:
Mate, go for it.
FITZY:
Where did you go for schoolies?
TREASURER:
I actually went to Rockhampton. I went to Rockhampton…
WIPPA:
Did you?
TREASURER:
… and then I went over to, gosh that was a long time ago.
WIPPA:
It wasn't that long ago mate.
TREASURER:
It was quite, it seems longer all the time.
WIPPA:
You went back a few years after.
TREASURER:
I went to North Queensland with a couple of mates and we went camping.
FITZY:
That's good.
TREASURER:
Schoolies really wasn't a thing when I left school.
WIPPA:
Right.
TREASURER:
It came much, much later and that's never really been my scene.
FITZY:
You're a Sharks supporter; you're the Number One ticket Holder. If they win the premiership this year what will you do up Kingsway?
TREASURER:
I'm going to give that a bit of thought. I am. Because it's looking good, but I don't want to jinx it. The game against Brisbane, I took a bit of time out on Sunday from the Budget and I went down to a local pub and found a bloke down there who used to live in Caringbah. We were both watching the game and gee it was a really good win. The guys are showing real grit this year and it could be our year…
FITZY:
So tops off up Kingsway? Alright we'll lock that one in.
WIPPA:
… there's a tutu involved I think.
TREASURER:
Only if you do it with me, only if you do it with me.
WIPPA:
Alright, deal, done.
FITZY:
This is the other one, alright this is the other big one. Now Tony Abbott, we had Tony Abbott on a couple of years ago and we asked Tony "Look Tony, few drinks, I mean you've celebrated the Budget ok, you go out, you've had a cigar with Joe Hockey. What song do you sing at the karaoke bar. This is what Tony requested.

He was horrible.
WIPPA:
Oh dear.
FITZY:

FITZY:

TREASURER:
Well look, I usually at karaoke I'll do something, some Johnny Cash thing or something like that.
WIPPA:
Oh, ok.
FITZY:
"Ring of Fire"?
TREASURER:
Yeah, "Ring of Fires" always good or "Folsom Prison Blues" or something like that. But, mate, as people down here in this parliament know, I'm the number one fan of the Tina Arena fan club. I think she is just the best.
WIPPA:
"Simply the best".
FITZY:
No, "Chains".
TREASURER:
Mate, I got to the last two concerts both in Melbourne and Sydney.
WIPPA:
Yeah.
TREASURER:
And I got to meet her actually, she's such a great lady. Jenny was there with me and she thought I looked like a bit of a sick pathetic teenager actually.
FITZY:
You've just locked yourself in for chains.
WIPPA:
I would strangle a dolphin to see you do a version of chains, and that's not easy to do.
FITZY:
With a chain.
WIPPA:

FITZY:
Well you know what Scotty, I mean no one envies the job of a Treasurer, you work very, very hard, we listen to your interviews on Ray Hadley quite a bit as well, when you and Ray have a robust discussion as well. But we wanted to find out a bit more about you today. Well done last night mate, we know it's tough and we appreciate you coming on the show.
TREASURER:
Well thanks for having me on. Can I just say one thing about the Budget? In the Budget last night we announced some stuff to get young people into jobs.
WIPPA:
Yes.
TREASURER:
And we're deadly serious about this. We know that young people have to get over some hurdles. Particularly people who have had a tough life and what we did in the Budget last night was designed to try and make sure that they get to participate in what is going to happen in our economy. We are deadly serious about it and we want to get those young people into those jobs and give them a go. Because I know small business want to give them a go, because I know small business want to give them a go and that's why we've given small business a tax cut so they can employ more people…
WIPPA:
Absolutely.
TREASURER:
…particularly young people.
WIPPA:
Well done Scotty, jobs and growth.
FITZY:
