The President of Chile, His Excellency Mr Sebastián Piñera, will visit Australia from 10-11 September as a guest of the Australian Government.
The Acting Prime Minister, the Hon Wayne Swan MP, will meet with President Piñera during his visit.
Australia's bilateral relationship with Chile is built on a strong base, with the conclusion of a free trade agreement in 2008, and underpinned by growing economic and people-to-people links. Chile is Australia's third largest trading partner in Latin America, and Australia is the sixth-largest foreign investor in Chile. Australia and Chile also cooperate closely on a wide range of international issues including trade liberalisation, the environment, fisheries conservation and the Antarctic.
