Underlying inflation down in new inflation numbers
Underlying inflation moderated in November with the Trimmed Mean Measure falling to 3.2 per cent, down from 3.5 per cent.
Headline inflation has now been in the bottom half of the Reserve Bank’s target band for three months in a row, for the first time since 2021.

$7.2 billion in new funding from the Australian Government to fix Bruce Highway

The Albanese Government will provide an additional $7.2 billion to upgrade and fix the Bruce Highway in Queensland, to bring it up to a minimum three‑star safety rating.

Today I have released the Centre for Population’s 2024 Population Statement providing updated and comprehensive data on Australia’s population.
The Government is already managing the major population trends covered in the Statement.
Next steps in ensuring the future of cash
The Albanese Government is taking action so Australians can continue to pay with cash for essential items if they want to or need to.
The Government will mandate that businesses must accept cash when selling essential items, with appropriate exemptions for small businesses.
