The Australian jobs market continues to defy expectations of a looming economic slowdown, decreasing the chance of the February interest rate cut. It leaves April as the only option of a potential rate cut for struggling homeowners before the federal election.

Well, mortgage holders are feeling a bit more hopeful about a February rate cut this morning after new figures showed underlying inflation has fallen to 3.2 per cent in November.

Well, there is hope this morning that a rate cut could be just a few weeks away, with the Treasurer declaring that he’s seen substantial and sustained progress in the fight against inflation.

Today we received the very encouraging news that underlying inflation has come down again in the most recent monthly inflation figures.
