Today we’re just here to talk about some numbers in MYEFO, which, as you know, will be released in its entirety tomorrow. MYEFO will have $14.6 billion worth of savings and reprioritisations contained in it.
Release of Tax Expenditures and Insights Statement
Today I have released the 2024‑25 Tax Expenditures and Insights Statement.
This statement which is released annually offers a detailed picture of how features of our tax system affect individuals, businesses and other entities, as well as the pressures they place on the budget.

Today I’m really pleased and really proud to be finalising the most significant recommendation of the Reserve Bank review by announcing the composition of the 2 new boards. I wanted to thank all of the members of the current board for their work but also for agreeing to continue to serve on one of the 2 new boards.
Appointments to the Reserve Bank’s Boards
The Albanese Government has today appointed a number of eminent Australians to the Reserve Bank’s two new boards, locking in a key reform to strengthen and modernise the central bank.
These appointments to the RBA’s new Governance Board and Monetary Policy Board implement core recommendations of the RBA Review.

On Wednesday Katy Gallagher and I will be releasing the mid‑year budget update. Responsible economic management has been a defining feature of the Albanese Labor government, and it will be the defining feature of the mid‑year budget update as well.
Additional $200 million to support FNQ recovery and resilience following impact of ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper
The Albanese and Crisafulli Governments will provide more than $206 million in long‑term disaster funding to Far North Queensland communities hit hard by ex‑Tropical Cyclone (TC) Jasper as well as $1.75 million to communities impacted by South East Queensland (SEQ) storm events.
