New laws to strengthen financial system and boost investment in cleaner, cheaper energy pass the Senate
The Albanese Government has today passed legislation through the Senate that will help maximise the economic opportunities of cleaner, cheaper and more reliable energy and strengthen Australia’s financial system.
These new laws will modernise our financial system, provide greater information and clarity to investors, and incentivise investment in the net zero transformation.

Annual real wages continue to grow under Labor
New data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows annual real wages continue to grow under the Albanese Labor Government.
The Wage Price Index rose 0.8 per cent in the June quarter, to be 4.1 per cent higher through the year.
Appointment to Board of Taxation
The Albanese Government has reappointed Ian Kellock as a part‑time member of the Board of Taxation for a three‑year period.
This appointment will ensure we have the continuity, expertise and experience we need on one of the Government’s most important advisory boards.

I want to start by paying tribute to the remarkable life and service of Tom Pritchard, the last of his generation of heroes, and by all accounts a truly wonderful Australian. Our hearts go out to Tom’s loved ones today as we mourn his passing and salute his service.
Reserve Bank decision on interest rates
Today’s welcome decision from the Reserve Bank comes at a time of moderating underlying inflation, market volatility and global economic uncertainty.
Australians are doing it tough already, the last thing they needed was more cost of living pressure.
