First meeting of the new National Housing Supply and Affordability Council
The National Housing Supply and Affordability Council will hold its first meeting as a new permanent housing body today, following passage of the Albanese Government’s Housing Legislative Package.
The establishment of a permanent National Housing Supply and Affordability Council delivers on another election commitment of the Albanese Labor Government.
Albanese Labor Government helps 100,000 people into home ownership
The Albanese Labor Government is bringing home ownership back into reach with the Home Guarantee Scheme helping more than 100,000 people into a home since May 2022.
A key Labor election commitment, the expanded Home Guarantee Scheme helps eligible home buyers secure finance sooner through government support.
Release of the Independent Review of the Franchising Code of Conduct
The Albanese Labor Government is committed to a fair playing field in franchising and has today tabled the Independent Review of the Franchising Code of Conduct in Parliament.
The review by small business expert, Dr Michael Schaper, makes 23 formal recommendations and 34 implementation suggestions for Government to consider.
A further $41 million for small and medium businesses to lower energy bills
The Albanese Government is delivering a further $41 million in Energy Efficiency Grants (EEG) for Small and Medium Enterprises to improve energy efficiency, save on energy bills and lower emissions.
This takes our investment to support small businesses through these grants to $62 million.
New foreign investment laws to boost housing supply
The Albanese Government has today introduced legislation to adjust the foreign investment framework to help boost Australia’s housing stock and provide more homes for Australians.
Higher fees for the purchase of established homes and increased penalties for those that leave properties vacant will help ensure foreign investment in residential property is in our national interest.
