There's a lot of confusion around the schemes ‑ First Home Guarantee scheme, Family Guarantee scheme ‑ what they want to know is how do we benefit from these new changes?

We are joined now by the Minister for Housing, Julie Collins, who joins us from beautiful Hobart. Good morning to us, Julie. Can you talk us through these changes to the Home Guarantee Scheme and how they will work?

Small Business Energy Incentive
Small business operators will be front and centre in next month’s Budget with a new tax incentive to help propel their energy transformation.
The Small Business Energy Incentive will help up to 3.8 million small‑ and medium‑sized businesses save energy and save on their energy bills.
Helping more Australians into home ownership
The Albanese Labor Government will help more Australians into home ownership sooner through a significant expansion of criteria for the Home Guarantee Scheme.
Billions to boost social and affordable rental homes
The Albanese Labor Government is taking a number of actions in next month’s Budget to improve the supply of rental housing, including to support more social and affordable rental housing. These commitments will help more Australians secure a safe and affordable place to call home.
More certainty for HomeBuilder applicants
All existing HomeBuilder applicants would have until 30 June 2025 to submit supporting documentation to receive the grant under a proposed new agreement by the Albanese Government.
