The Albanese Government is making changes to the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), further reinforcing the Government’s commitment to sourcing from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and opening the door to more opportunities for businesses that contribute to Australia’s economy.

Commonwealth, state, and territory Small Business Ministers have met to discuss support for Australia’s 2.5 million small businesses and start work on a landmark new National Small Business Strategy.

Today was the fourth meeting of Small Business Ministers since the re‑establishment of the forum in 2022.

The Albanese Labor Government’s Help to Buy scheme has taken another step forward as Queensland becomes the first state to pass its legislation to deliver the shared equity scheme.

Help to Buy will give more Queenslanders the opportunity to own their own home and save up to 40 per cent off the cost of their mortgage.

The legislation overhauls the Payment Times Reporting Act 2020 (the Act) and will provide a shot in the arm for small businesses with faster payment times to improve cash flow, alleviating administrative burdens and reducing financing costs.

The Albanese Labor Government is working to boost the construction of rental housing as part of our comprehensive $32 billion Homes for Australia plan.

Today we have introduced legislation to deliver new tax incentives to encourage investment and construction in the build‑to‑rent sector.

More than 700 people will have a safe and affordable home to live in with the restoration of 290 previously uninhabitable, vacant homes by the New South Wales Government, delivered with $25 million of Albanese Labor Government funding from the Social Housing Accelerator.

Today the Government has introduced legislation to overhaul the Payment Times Reporting Act 2020 (the Act), which will target payment times, terms and practices of big corporations to their small business suppliers.

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering more homes for New South Wales residents who need them with 51 new units nearing completion in Riverwood.

This project has been supported by the Albanese Labor Government’s Housing Australia with more than $20 million in funding.

The homes will be managed by St George Community Housing.
