Yesterday the Parliament passed the Competition and Consumer Amendment (Fair Go for Consumers and Small Business) Bill 2024. This reform, which forms part of the Albanese Government’s Better Competition election commitment, establishes a designated complaints function within the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) from July 2024.

The Australian Government’s $500 million Housing Support Program is now open for applications from state, territory and local governments for projects that will boost the planning required to increase housing supply.

Joining me live is the Minister for Housing, Julie Collins, from Tasmania. And can I ask, Julie Collins, for your reaction to the result? It certainly took Helen Polley on our panel by surprise. She was saying all night Labor wouldn't do a deal with the Greens. Yet it looks like that is what Bec White is going to try to do.

The Allan and Albanese Labor Governments are opening new homes right across the state, with residents moving into over 400 new homes in the heart of Prahran.

When Labor came to office in 2022, we inherited significant housing challenges.

Among them was the fact that older women had become the fasting growing demographic among homeless Australians.

We knew we had a big job ahead of us, and that’s why the Albanese Labor Government has been investing in the most significant housing reforms in a generation.

Small businesses are a step closer to getting more personalised support to help prevent and recover from cyber attacks under the Small Business Cyber Resilience Service.

The Albanese Labor Government is investing $8.1 million over 3 years for a provider to deliver the new service to small businesses across Australia, in both metropolitan and regional locations.

The Albanese and Miles Labor Governments are working together to cut the cost of a mortgage and help more Queenslanders into their own homes.

In a new partnership, the Albanese Labor Government and the Cook Labor Government are delivering 16 new social housing dwellings in Perth’s southern suburb of Coolbellup.

The 16 new dwellings, about 15 km south of the Perth CBD, will deliver new homes for seniors on the public housing waitlist, providing an immediate boost to Western Australia’s social housing stock.
