Last year, researchers published a study in which ten different job training programs were evaluated through randomised trials – the way medical researchers test new drugs.

For each program, participants were randomly allocated by the toss of a coin. Heads, they received job training. Tails, they were assigned to a control group.

Does it mean the RBA is more likely to hike rates again next week?

ACCC Deputy Chair appointment

The Albanese Government will reappoint Mick Keogh OAM as a Deputy Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for a further five years from 30 May.

Mr Keogh has been a Deputy Chair of the ACCC since 2018 and was previously an Associate Commissioner from 2016 to 2018.

Australian Centre for Evaluation to measure what works

The 2023‑24 Budget includes $10 million over four years to establish an Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE) in the Australian Treasury. The Australian Centre for Evaluation will improve the volume, quality, and impact of evaluations across the Australian Public Service (APS), and work in close collaboration with evaluation units in other departments and agencies.
