Work commences on Employment White Paper

The Albanese Government has today released the terms of reference for the Employment White Paper that will guide the future of Australia’s skills and labour market.

This month’s Jobs and Skills Summit delivered 36 concrete outcomes to help build a bigger, better trained and more productive workforce, boost real wages and living standards, and create more opportunities for more Australians.

The White Paper is the next step in the Government’s open and consultative approach to addressing some of our nation’s big economic challenges.

It will have an overarching focus on full employment, productivity growth, and improving women’s economic participation and equality.

The White Paper will look at topics including the future of work, job security, labour supply, and how we use skills and training to expand opportunities to more people in more parts of our country.

I am grateful to the thousands of Australians who stepped up and spoke up at the Jobs and Skills Summit and the more than 100 roundtables held in communities across the country.

Many of the ideas raised will be explored further as part of the White Paper process.

Individuals and organisations are invited to make a submission on any aspect of the terms of reference. Submissions close on 30 November 2022.

The White Paper, which will be released in the second half of next year, will continue our efforts to build a stronger, broader and more sustainable economy that works for everyone.
