Today I am pleased to announce Mr Mick Keogh OAM will serve as a Deputy Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for a period of five years.
I am also pleased to announce the reappointments of Ms Sarah Court and Ms Cristina Cifuentes as Commissioners, each for a period of five years.
Mr Keogh has been the ACCC’s Agriculture Commissioner since 2016. He has a strong understanding of the competition issues affecting small businesses, particularly from his experience running a small business as the manager of a family beef cattle farm. He has received the Order of Australia Medal for services to agriculture. Mr Keogh will continue to perform his agriculture responsibilities in addition to his new role as Deputy Chair of the ACCC.
Ms Cifuentes was first appointed to the Commission in 2013 and has overseen the Commission’s regulatory role in key areas such as telecommunications, wheat ports, rail and water.
Ms Court has been a member of the Commission since 2008 and has overseen the Commission’s enforcement and litigation program.
I congratulate Mr Keogh, Ms Court and Ms Cifuentes and look forward to each of them continuing to make a significant contribution to the important work of the ACCC.
I would also like to thank Dr Michael Schaper for his service as Deputy Chair of the ACCC. Dr Schaper has served for ten years in this role, during which time he has made a strong and highly regarded contribution to the Commission’s work, particularly on matters affecting small business.
