Release of Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee report
The Albanese Government is today releasing the first report of the interim Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee.
We thank the committee for the report, which is helping inform the Government’s considerations ahead of the Budget to be delivered on 9 May.
Interview with Kathleen Hays, Bloomberg
KATHLEEN HAYS:
I want to start on the independent review of the Reserve Bank of Australia because it seems like it's due anytime now. It could include things like more meetings every year - or fewer, I should say; a press conference after every meeting. Bottom line: are you close, have you set a date, are you ready, have you made up your mind?
Interview with Sabra Lane, AM, ABC Radio
SABRA LANE:
The Federal Government has promised cost‑of‑living relief in next month's Budget. Ahead of that, the Treasurer Jim Chalmers along with the Reserve Bank chief Philip Lowe are in Washington right now for a number of important meetings with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Mr Chalmers joined me earlier.
Interview with Matt Shirvington, Sunrise, Channel 7
MATT SHIRVINGTON:
Joining me now is Treasurer Jim Chalmers. Good morning to you, our time. Well, earlier this week, you told Nat that you're confident Australia will avoid a recession. But how are we impacted if a global recession occurs as the IMF is warning?
JIM CHALMERS:
Interview with Peter Stefanovic, First Edition, Sky News
PETER STEFANOVIC:
Let's go live to Washington DC, now. Joining us is the Treasurer Jim Chalmers. Treasurer, good to see you. Thanks for your time. So you've arrived as inflation in the US drops to about five per cent. That's getting better but the global scene is still precarious as rates rise. So what have you learned so far while you've been there?
Interview with Karl Stefanovic, Today Show, Channel 9
KARL STEFANOVIC:
Treasurer Jim Chalmers is in Washington DC. Treasurer, good morning to you. I can almost see you in those baggy jeans hitting up City Rowers back in the day. How real though is the recession threat for us right now?
JIM CHALMERS:
Interview with Michael Rowland, News Breakfast, ABC
MICHAEL ROWLAND:
Treasurer, good morning.
JIM CHALMERS:
Good morning, Michael.
ROWLAND:
What are you hoping to bring away from these consultations with US economic officials?
CHALMERS:
