Introduction
I would like to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather today.

Albanese government to introduce new digital competition powers
The Albanese government is proposing a new digital competition regime for big tech to protect consumers, and bolster innovation and competition.
Objective of superannuation reforms pass Parliament
The Albanese Labor Government has today passed the Superannuation Objective Bill 2023 to strengthen Australia’s retirement income system.
For the very first time we now have a legislated objective for superannuation that gives the industry, future governments and Australian retirees confidence in the system.
Multinational tax transparency, Buy Now Pay Later and philanthropic laws pass Parliament
The Albanese Labor Government has passed legislation that will hold large multinationals to account on their tax affairs, protect Australians who use Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services and support the Government’s commitment to double philanthropic giving.
Expanding the Consumer Data Right to non-bank lending
Today the Albanese Government has taken another step to reset the Consumer Data Right (CDR) and improve how the CDR can better serve consumers.
The Government is releasing draft rules for public comment to expand the CDR to non‑bank lending.

2025–26 Pre-Budget submissions
The Albanese government is inviting individuals, businesses, and community groups to submit their ideas and priorities for the 2025–26 Budget.
The Government places significant importance on receiving submissions in developing its budget policies and strategy. It is vital that policy development is informed by as wide a range of views as possible.
Improving the retirement phase of superannuation
The Albanese Government is taking action to reform the retirement phase of superannuation so the system delivers a better retirement for more Australians.
Our reforms will give retirees more peace of mind, help them make their super go further and provide more support to navigate retirement.
