The Albanese Government will ban dodgy business practices ripping off Australians, today opening public consultation on our plan to ban unfair trading practices.

We will ban:

The Australian Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cook Islands to allow portability of retirement savings between our two countries.

This will benefit Cook Islanders who return home to retire, and Australians who have periods of work in the Cook Islands.

Today the Albanese Government is announcing changes to make it easier for consumers to use the Consumer Data Right (CDR).

The CDR has the potential to be a transformational piece of economic reform, giving consumers the right to unlock the value of their data.

GRAEME DAY:

The Scams Prevention Framework Bill 2024 establishes a world‑leading and whole‑of‑ecosystem approach to combat scams in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

This Bill will lift obligations on industry, enable enforcement action by regulators, and deliver strong protections for consumers.

The Albanese Government is providing the strongest defences against scammers in the world. Landmark legislation establishing the Scams Prevention Framework will be introduced into Parliament today.

The Albanese Government is delivering on its commitment to ensure big corporations to pay their fair share of tax with a new report revealing a record level of corporate tax receipts.

The Albanese Government has appointed the following new part‑time members to the Ministerial Pool for the Insolvency Practitioner Registration and Disciplinary Committees (IPRDC):

2. Dr Jason Harris
3. Ms Donna Boyce

The appointments are for a three‑year period beginning on 2 November 2024.
