Opinion piece: A powerful role for business in the new economy

Australia’s AAA credit rating confirmed by S&P

New inflation figures
The latest ABS data shows inflation rose by 7.8 per cent in 2022.
This is broadly in line with the Treasury’s October Budget forecast of inflation peaking at 7.75 per cent in the December quarter, and the RBA’s forecast peak of eight per cent in the December quarter.

JIM CHALMERS:
I wanted to wish everybody marking the Lunar New Year, happy new year. There are a lot of celebrations going on around the country today. It's very kind of people who mark this occasion to share this culture with us. It's become a really important part of the Australian summer and so to everyone celebrating today, happy Lunar New Year.

Doorstop interview, Logan, Queensland
JIM CHALMERS:
Thanks for coming out to Logan again today. I wanted to talk particularly about the new jobs data, which is out this morning, as well as make some remarks about the announcement of the retirement of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand.

You too. Can you just remind everyone at home when people's energy prices might be going down?
CHALMERS:
